JOB TITLE: Musical Theatre Teaching Artist

JOB SUMMARY:

Do you have a background in theatre and love working with children?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Musical Theatre Teaching Artist to lead engaging, age appropriate classes, for elementary and middle school students. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with young performers and skilled in integrating acting, singing, and movement into fun, educational, and confidence-building experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Effectively and safely lead a high-energy classroom environment.
Direct, choreograph, and block short productions leading to a final performance at our partner school sites.
Create lesson plans that integrate acting, vocal technique, and basic movement choreography into existing curriculum.
Teach foundational theatre skills such as character development, storytelling, ensemble work, stage presence and vocal projection.
Collaborate with Technical Theatre Teaching Artist as needed.
Regularly communicate with a team of assistant directors, costumers, producers, supervisors, and more.
Create ample opportunity for a diverse group of students to find success in their classroom roles.
Foster a learning environment that encourages creativity and confidence.
Teaching Artists are required to participate in 4 information booths/events per year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in the dramatic or music arts
1+ year of experience teaching musical theatre, theatre, voice, dance, or a related arts discipline.
Strong knowledge of musical theatre fundamentals
Ability to teach multiple disciplines (acting, singing, and movement) at a foundational level
High energy, patience and a passion for arts education
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Experience working with elementary and secondary-level children
Organizational excellence
Availability in afternoons and evenings
Bachelors or Associates Degree (preferred)
Clearance of background check required

PAY RANGE: $25 - $30 per hour

We are seeking a knowledgeable and creative Technical Theatre Teaching Artist to introduce elementary and middle school students to the behind-the-scenes elements of live performances. The ideal candidate is passionate theatre production and skilled in teaching foundational technical skills to young artists.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Effectively and safely lead a high-energy classroom environment.
Teach students the basics of set design, stagecraft, props, costumes, lighting and sound leading to a final production at our partner school sites.
Introduce students to backstage roles and theatre terminology as outlined by the curriculum.
Teach safe and proper use of tools, equipment, and materials.
Guide students in building, painting, organizing, and maintaining production elements.
Collaborate with Musical Theatre Teaching Artist as needed.

Do you have a background in dance and love working with children?

We are seeking an energetic and skilled Dance Teaching Artist to teach KPOP dance to elementary and middle school students. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of KPOP choreography, performance style, and musicality, and can adapt KPOP-inspired movement for young dancers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan and teach age-appropriate KPOP dance classes inspired by current artists, groups, and trends.
Lead structured classes that include warm-up, technique, choreography, and a cool-down.
Teach fundamental KPOP movement styles, including precision, musicality, formations, and expression.
Break down choreography clearly for beginner and intermediate dancers.
Teach safe warm-ups, stretching, and conditioning.
Create short routines or performance pieces for showcases or events.
Introduce students to performance concepts such as facials, stage presence, and group synchronization.
Effectively and safely lead a high-energy classroom environment.
Implement pre-determined curriculum and learning goals in a fun and inclusive manner.
Foster a learning environment that encourages creativity and confidence.
Communicate effectively with students, staff and families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience teaching KPOP dance and/or hip-hop to children or adolescents preferred
Experience teaching dance to youth individually or in a group setting
Ability to engage, inspire, and manage a classroom
Strong background in one or more dance styles
Experience working with elementary and secondary-level children
Availability in afternoons and evenings
Experience working in after-school programs, schools, or community centers preferred
CPR/First Aid certification (preferred, but not required)

DEPARTMENT: Education

JOB SUMMARY:

Do you have a background in theatre and love working with children?

We are seeking passionate and experienced Instrumental Teaching Artists to lead after-school elementary band or strings classes in Fountain Valley or surrounding areas. Teachers will work with students in grades 3-5, providing high-quality music instruction in both group and ensemble settings. Classes run twice each week after school (approximately 2:30pm-3:30pm) and operate from October through May/June, following the school calendar. Teachers prepare students for three public performances throughout the school year.

Instruments to teach:

Band: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion

Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate music instruction for elementary students.
Teach note-reading, music theory, ensemble skills, and proper instrument technique.
Conduct rehearsals and prepare students for performances.
Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying skill levels and instruments.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment.
Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, organized learning space.
Communicate effectively with program staff, parents, and school personnel.
Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree (or current enrollment) in Music Education, Performance, or related field.
2+ years of experience teaching children instrumental music.
Ability to read music fluently and conduct in 4/4, 3/4, and 2/4 time signatures.
Knowledge of proper playing techniques and care for band or string instruments.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Reliable, organized and punctual.
Clearance of background check required.
CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
Previous experience teaching in a group or ensemble setting (preferred).
Knowledge of developmental learning strategies for elementary-age students (preferred).
Ability to lead performances and coordinate with accompanists or ensembles (preferred).

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instrumental Teaching Aide to support our after-school elementary music programs in band and/or strings. The aide will assist lead instructors in managing classes, preparing materials, and supporting students in grades 3-5 as they learn to play musical instruments and read sheet music. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about music education and working with children.

Instruments:

Band: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion

Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist lead Teaching Artist during band/strings classes.
Help students with instrument setup, posture, and technique.
Support classroom management and maintain a positive learning environment.
Prepare and organize music materials and instruments.
Assist with rehearsals and performances throughout the school year.
Monitor student progress and provide encouragement.
Ensure classroom safety and support student engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Enthusiastic and engaging personality, especially with children.
Basic knowledge of music theory and ability to read sheet music.
Familiarity with common band and string instruments (e.g. flute, violin, trumpet, cello).
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with other instructors.
Clearance of background check required.
